Metalwood x Maxfli bring the retro soccer vibe that golf needs.

Classic logos, crazy hats, and unexpected football vibes around out this collab.

Maxfli is one of those golf brands that has a long history, yet just falls to the periphery in today’s golf industry. A subsidiary of Dick's Sporting Goods, they now fill a niche creating balls, bags, at home accessories, and other golf necessities that golfers need from a brand they can trust. That is why the decision to collaborate with Metalwood is both surprising yet in a way expectedly successful. For a brand rooted in retro fashion, the ability to call back to some of the most famous classic golf logos and their past designs is a perfect match.

The collection has a lot of Metalwood staples, like t-shirts and crewnecks featuring logos and branding from both companies, some even utilizing a classic Maxfli advertisement printed on the back. A checkered brings some cool detail to a finely made item, already sold out online, and the hats pop with designs like denim and pinstripe adorned with a dual Maxfli-Metalwood stacked logo. But, the real beauties here are the two polos launched in this collaboration, both drawing design and fitting inspiration from retro soccer jerseys. Maxfli right in the middle of the chest, with Metalwood typed out in curved front where the name would be, complete with logos in the advertising spots and a football kit collar. This is the first time there has been such a direct connection to soccer culture in a golf collaboration, and one can only hope there will be more to come.

While this collection unfortunately does not feature accessories like gloves or tees, it’s made up for with the large variation of styles and colors they released for the clothes. Each t-shirt or sweat or hat varies from each other enough where it almost feels like a different style completely, something that is not so easy to do, but the throwback vibes of Metalwood allow for a lot of creativity. With the collection coming in store on Thursday, that is the last chance you will have to get these pieces, which are already selling out online not even an hour after the release. With an event taking place at Roosevelt Golf Course on Wednesday, it’s obvious that Metalwood and Maxfli both know that these events are how to really spread the love for a collab in this space. Just by judging the design and the styles of the clothes alone, this partnership would be considered a success, and with two in person events coming up, it is sure to be a large celebration of yet another new step in golf fashion.
