Are you a blader, chunker, or some crazy combination of both around the green? These three fundamentals will help to eliminate the wedge confusion. Always keep the ball close to the big toe of your back foot, within 6 inches. Make sure to always keep 80% of the weight on your front foot through the entire swing. Lastly, keep the same tempo and length for your entire swing, just don’t let the club slow down. These simple tips, applied together, will at least keep your chipping feel consistent and solid!
Course of the Week
This week, I’d like to shout out Palmetto Golf Course in Miami, Florida. My local municipal course, it’s gone through complete renovations over the last few years to redo everything, from the cart paths to the greens. Yet, after all this, it’s still commonplace to see cars parked in the first cut of the fairway, shirtless Florida men trying to sell you golf balls in a lightning storm, and gators and lizards guarding the water hazards. The rough is long and the rounds are longer, but Palmetto has charm and character that some golf courses would kill for. With an atmosphere perfect for the Weekend Warrior and a layout that brings a fun challenge, Palmetto is a good place to bring your friends and crack a few beers under a bright blue Miami sky.

Stories from the Sticks
For this week’s story, I want to share with you all what I believe to be the biggest thing that can affect golf, and life, and that is your attitude. Practicing acceptance of your inevitable mistakes, and embracing them with a smile rather than a yell is enough to completely flip a round. Last week, I was fighting a faulty swing by the turn. What made the difference this round, is that instead of getting upset and angry, I just accepted it wasn’t by best stuff and played to the best and happiest of my abilities. When I made a double on the back, I accepted it and used it as positive fuel to par the next two holes afterwards. It sounds simple, but actually holding yourself to this mindset is tough, especially for a Weekend Warrior that can never seem to put all the parts of their game together. Changing your attitude before changing instructors or putters is a cheaper and faster way to enjoy the game more, and get a little bit better too.
Crazy Golf Moment of the Week
This week’s moment goes to the unnamed man playing shirtless at Miami Shores. Yeah sure, it was hot, but some things you really just never expect to see. Hat’s off, honestly. And polos too, I guess.
