Weekenders Weekly 004
Fall fashion and ancient scripture. What a mix!
Welcome back, Weekend Warriors
This week at Weekenders Weekly, we’re ushering in fall with a whole batch of new drops from Malbon Golf, Quiet Golf, and Metalwood Studios. I’ll catch you up on the Presidents Cup, give you some insight into the oldest public golf course in America, and give you.
I hope you enjoy!
Autumn Apparel
Fall fashion is in full swing as some of golf’s top brands are bringing out selections perfect for the upcoming season.
Malbon Golf’s latest collection is a call to the sights and colors found in the lush nature of the Canadian wilderness. Lots of really varied designs that work similar to the forest itself; many different parts working together to create a whole. Check it out here, and check out the WW write up on it here.
Metalwood Studios infuses a sporty vibe into its famous retro styling. 2000’s football (the European one) inspired jerseys, a sleek wind shirt, and “sport” emblazoned hats are some of the standouts for this pack. A street ready collection, no polos to be found here, yet the golf shorts are some of the best I’ve seen in a while. Get a blast from the past here.
Quiet Golf has just been teasing the announcement of their upcoming fall/winter collection. Weekenders Weekly will be happy to report on this collection to you and bring you a first look later in the week. Stay tuned!
Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course
The history that this course holds in its fairways could write books, so one article won’t do it justice. But, I do think I’ll be able to key you all in to a little bit of what makes this course so special. The vibes, the people, the creativity of the layout, to stick a full 18 holes right in the Bronx. The article is out, and it’s long, but Vanny deserves to have every detail pored over. Hop to socials to see some footage coming soon.
Book of Five Rings
As golf is a metaphor for life, I am always trying to apply new philosophies and techniques that I learn to my golf game, in the everlasting bid to improve. I’ve recently read The Book of Five Rings, by Miyamoto Musashi, and 500 year old teachings of sword fighting and strategy might help your game more than you think. Article coming soon.
Brand Spotlight
I want to shoutout Radda Golf, started only back in 2019, whose take on golf clothing and their overall vibe is so unique. Their pieces stand out as elevated versions of what feels like old school golf clothing. They keep things straightforward, but not simple, with solid color polos all the way to cotton candy tie dye. A sleeper brand worth checking out!
Stupid Golf Story of the Week
This story of the week goes out to @manofgolf72 on Instagram. He was present for two legendary moments in Van Cortlandt’s history. As I mention in the article, I am curious as to what is the most amount of balls hit, putts made, etc. at a course with history like Vanny. Well, I now know the longest round, on the most crowded day in Vanny’s history, was 7.5 hours. I bet they sold a lot of beer. And, he also tells the tale of when he was still on the front, someone was shot on the back 9, causing the hole to be skipped. I’ve heard about some crazy things happening on a course, but this definitely is near the top. I wouldn’t even be surprised if that wasn’t the first time, but now that I frequent the course, I sure hope it’s the last.
I hope you enjoyed this edition of Weekenders Weekly! Things are starting to ramp up with on course content, fan submissions like fit of the week (get your submissions in by the end of the day), a Van Cortlandt hat giveaway, and more! Miyamoto Musashi said that one’s tools must always be at their peak, and he must trust in them, and know exactly what they can and cannot do. Go play golf.
