Weekenders Weekly 030
Thirty ball pon your headtop
Welcome back, Weekend Warriors!
30 editions of Weekenders Weekly man. I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of what I want this brand to be. I started WW not just to fulfill my dream of sportswriting, but to show people young and old how dope and fun golf had become through comedy, art, music, live events, and beautiful shoes and clothing.
Sometimes I feel a bit constrained doing just golf. There are so many other amazing things I want to talk about that are golf-adjacent, or maybe seem completely separate, but it is something that not just me, but this community would love. Don’t be alarmed, but you may start to experience more content about non-golf apparel, music, movies, aviation, knives, and other all around dope stuff that really makes up Weekenders Weekly. Golf is just the conduit.
A huge shoutout to The Hustle Daily for coming in to sponsor this week’s newsletter. Big fan of that. Remember to click that link! It helps a lot.

Drop Roundup
In the lead-up to the PGA Championship in Charlotte next week, Gleezy and Sugarloaf Social Club skewed away from the NASCAR inspiration unlike most other brands and took the “quail” in Quail Hollow quite literally. The two have come together with a nice little pack that focuses more on the fun images and animals surrounding the event, like the aforementioned bird and the inventive Tourasauras design. The collection takes the manic fun of Gleezy with the laid back style of SSC and puts it through a cartoony lens. I like the direction they went with this, but as a gigantic Gleezy fan, I do wish we saw more of Gleezy’s iconic colors, logos, and designs more on the forefront. But, removing that opinion and looking at this collection for what it is, they absolutely killed. The pack, though sold out, can be found right here.
Malbon x Jesper Parnevik
Jesper Parnevik was signed by Malbon for his off the course persona and iconic outfit selection over the years, two ahead of their time aspects that Malbon Golf sees not just reflecting their brand, but the movement of golf as a whole. After long last, the Jesper Parnevik Malbon collection is here, bringing with it a capsule of golf course ready clothes, with a focus on wool as the main material. I love how they went with the “timeless” route for these, employing the types of material and styling that makes this collection stand out from other Malbon drops for its elegant simplicity. But, that JP and Malbon touch is still present with quirky additions like four buttons, or an oversized front pocket. Through all the artistic designs and beautiful locations, it is cool to see Malbon perform just as well while going a completely different route. The Jesper Parnevik Collection released online and can be found here.
Oakley Observations
Today sees the release of the Oakley Factory Team shoe collection, with two sandals and a boot. The sandals serve less as a comfort piece and more as an aquatic hiking clog, with their bulky and industrialist construction that begs for heavy outdoor use. But, I could see these rugged shoes being the perfect in between for those days where you leave or get to the course in heavy rain. If you don’t do that, you’re not a real golf sicko.
Next to the sandals, which release in an all over black and a really cool beige and olive green, comes the Edge Boot, keeping that second colorway with habit more hits of brown. Like an apocalyptic Jordan 12, with high multi-material uppers and layers of protection on the bottom, inner, and outsides, this is another shoe that takes function and makes it its form. With the right outfit, I could see this being an elite street shoe. In fact, the way Oakley is moving with their footwear, I might really be on to something here. Let’s see just how far into sneakers this sunglasses brand will go. Find these new shoes in select stores and online right here.

Stories from the Sticks
“The most important shot in golf is the next one”
— Ben Hogan
I hope you enjoyed this edition of Weekenders Weekly! I’ve been talking for a bit now about changes, and I finally am happy with where I see the newsletter going at least in the near future. This space represents a slice of golf that I find special enough to spend time researching and writing to bring to all of you. But, without sounding too much like Mickey Mouse, you guys are the special part honestly. The newsletter will become a place to find information, yes, but also to share it yourself. The community aspect of WW will always be growing, but only recently did I realize how much of that can be done through here.
I want to make WW a place where everyone with a love for golf, music, fashion, art, sport, tools, gadgets, aviation, etc. can coalesce. Over the next week, please do not hesitate to send me;
fit pics (on or off course)
shoe pics (on or off course)
planespotting (on or near a golf course)
car spotting (on or near a golf course)
a favorite edc carry knife
a crazy/retro club or golf gadget
a hilarious/sad/heartwarming golf story
your best recent golf story
It has been a dream to grow this community so far and I only hope to expand not just the amount of people, but the deepness in what is talked about, and the level of interaction from you all.
A huge thanks to my affiliate partners as well:
