Malbon Golf Archive Sale

Malbon’s bi-annual archive sale has started, giving golfers the chance to snag their favorite item at rarely seen prices. Although sizing is very subjective, there are enough silhouettes for everyone to find something, and some really amazing pieces are included like many Adidas collaborations, some stand bags, and shoes as well. The New Era caps are a great addition to the sale too. The sale is still running, you can find it here for men and here for women. Be sure to check out my video showcasing my top ten pieces included in the sale!

Pluto Golf Release

Pluto Golf, who have some of the coldest shoes in the game, have recently released a collection under the name “Open Terrain” and it’s a mix of proprietary futurism and 2000’s streetwear callbacks I don’t think I have seen exist yet in the world of golf. I absolutely love this collection through and through. The “A Bathing Ape” camo inspired towels and beanies are amazing, very cool for a golf brand to tap into that world, and they go along well with the solid colored beanies. The futuristic polos and jackets share similar colorblocking ideas, yet varying levels of intricacy, but both designs contribute to unique and daring styles. I want to rock that green polo and tan jacket so bad. The ball markers represent their mascot, as does the t-shirt, while the hoodie is stamped with the “Open Terrain” tagline in a ridiculously fun font. The collection is rounded out with some topographic head covers, and I have a soft spot for topographic print in any form, so I really like these as well. All in all, this one of the coolest golf drops I have seen in a minute. About time Pluto Golf got a mention here; next up, the shoes.

Find the collection here.

Sun Day Red The North Collection

The North Collection is Sun Day Red’s answer to the stark yet nature filled fairways of links golf, blending the refinement of the clothes production with washed out pastels and an emphasis on stripes and patterns. Nothing is in your face, yet almost every piece has something brewing under the surface, like small surface area patterning to go along with the intricate logo stitching on the hoodies. The full toned pieces are also great, and come in darker colors than the ones emblazoned with a pattern, including the cashmere sweaters and the icon polos. The whole collection is a very cool group of different styles that represent the feelings and findings of links golf in a very general sense, allowing one to match to different parts and moments they may find during a links round. Very nice stuff from Sun Day Red, find the collection online here.

Manors Heritage Check Polos

Manors, in the lead up to the Genesis Scottish Open, has released two polos that pay heritage to the birthplace of this crazy sport through their reimagined tartan print. Releasing in two earthy colors, a sandy burny brown called “dune” and a leafy paled out green called “sage” both reminisce on the harsh nature of the Scottish coastline. The tartan print shows up in almost wispy chains that serve as a a visual representation of the echoing memory of tartan print, instead of a pure reimagining. It is a design choice fitting for the brand and the campaign launched for these clothes, and allows the white color choice for the pattern to live differently on the shirt, almost in motion, rather than static. Both these polos are beautifully designed, colored, and cut, and Manors’ strong makeup of materials just adds to the allure. Check out sage here and dune here.

Eastside Golf Store

Eastside Golf’s first ever physical store has just opened, joining the ranks of other modern golf brands to do so. But, true to their brand, they’ve done so in a way that is creatively and marketably different that everyone else; Detroit Metro Airport has just become the world’s first place to shop only Eastside Golf. That’s right, Eastside Golf’s first store has very brilliantly been opened in the Detroit airport, allowing golfers from any place in the country to have a very high chance of visiting. A real first for modern golf brands, it shows how the small gap between golf and travel is becoming ever closer, while also showing how public and business perceptions of airports are starting to shift, especially as air travel gets easier and more widespread. As Eastside also finds itself in Nordstrom and Dick’s Sporting Goods across the country, this airport store move allows it to continue to not just enter new markets, but create markets that did not exist prior in this sector of golf. Their approach to continue entering the golf mainstream is unique and wholly their own, but a brand that stays so true to their mission and vision, what more would you expect?

Stories from the Sticks

Is winning the Open worth a million pounds? Well, it’s worthwhile winning it- I would recommend it to anybody!

— Sandy Lyle

I hope you enjoyed this edition of Weekenders Weekly! Lot of cool product drops. We will see a triumphant return of footwear next week, so stay tuned for that! I am thinking about moving the newsletter more towards long form content. One long form a week, then flanked with 3-4 sections depicting products, newsworthy items, some comedy. I still am trying to build up the community element. I want to talk about what the people are wearing, not just the pros and influencers. I’m going to get that going soon. Thank you again 1440 Media, you guys rock. So do all my readers and viewers. All love. Thanks again, and go play some golf!
