Letter to the Editor

Questions, comments, and concerns about the state of golf, fashion, pop culture, a hole in one, a really bad playing partner. If you have something to say, say it here! Miami Lakes Reopening

At long last, Miami Lakes Golf Club is scheduled to open this Saturday, with tee times available to be booked by phone. I can’t wait to get out there of course, but I also can’t wait for you all to see my interview with owner Danny, who I was able to sit down with as well as go hole by hole across the entire redone 18. Stay tuned!

TGL

TGL has just announced massive amounts of renovation and reimagining in multiple areas around the stadium and in the technology that powers the league. Firstly, the GreenZone has undergone many changes. It’s been enlarged just under 40%, one bunker was removed while the other has doubled in size, and the GreenZone’s largest slope was lowered to help increase sight lines for fans. Camera towers were also removed from the GreenZone area and moved elsewhere, as was done by the tee boxes as well. Speaking of the tee boxes, each one has been enlarged, and the fairway bunker lip has been adjusted to be raised even higher. In the screen, multiple new factors are in play. The entire engine that the TGL simulator runs on has been upgraded to Unity 6, and the fidelity of the graphics and the color grading is a huge leap just from one season to the next. Also, 6 of holes have been adjusted to each be representative of a location of each of the 6 teams, known as Team Holes. With more pin locations, hole options, and viewing options than last time, it’s very welcoming to see that TGL and TMRW Sport’s innovation has only continued to compound.

Internet Invitational

The first video from the Internet Invitational has released today, a three hour start to a six part series where 48 golf content creators duked it out in a multi format, multi day tournament for a grand prize of a million bucks. Put together by both Barstool Sports and Bob Does Sports in a joint operation, it is not only a response to both PGA Tour and LIV’s attempts to use creators to help boost themselves, but also a glimpse into the level of spectacle, sponsorship, and skill that can be put together for tournament of influencers. Expect this video series to pull more viewers than most PGA Tour events.

Oakley Observations

Satisfy Running and Oakley’s next collaboration has just dropped, a beauty that puts running feel and performance above all else. It’s black all over finish, combined with the hooks behind the ears, allow it to fit well in any environment, especially the run clubs we see popping up in every major city. While it doesn’t even come close to the last collaboration, the supremely cool Eye Jackets that came with three different lenses, this is still a sick piece of eyewear that fits in perfectly with Satisfy’s M.O.

Stories from the Sticks

“Golf is a compromise between what your ego wants you to do, what your experience tells you to do, and what your nerves let you do.”
