Extra, extra, and a crossword!

Stay Tranquilo Tour Championship Event
Back in April, Stay Tranquilo took over Bodega Coconut Grove for a huge Masters watch party, Miami style. That means drinks, a DJ, a whole lot of nice polos and a screaming crowd cheering on the top 30 players. It was a fantastic golf watching experience like no other I’ve been to, and thankfully they are running it back this Saturday at 2:00 PM! Make sure to RSVP and get a free cocktail while you watch the top goys duke it out over the long, long, rolling fairways of East Lake. The last event was a smash hit, and this one is sure to only be better!
RSVP here.
Check out some scenes from the Master’s event here.
Eastside Golf x Jeezy Collection
Eastside Golf has become a standout staple among the closets of some of modern pop culture’s top athletes, artists, and all around change makers. But this week, coinciding with the Tour Championship in their origin city of Atlanta, marks their first time directly working with one of the people that not only helped inspire the brand, but has become one of it’s strongest supporters. Jeezy, the legendary rapper, has partnered with Eastside Golf for a clothing capsule that features high-quality accessories, custom logos and graphics, and clothes for on and off the course. There is only one photo out of a piece from the collection, which I will include below, but I will let you guys know when more drop.

Creator Classic Year 2: What went so, so wrong?
About a year ago, on the eve of the Tour Championship 2024, 16 of the largest golf creators, YouTubers, social media reel makers, from instructional types to comedic personalities, converged on East Lake to play in the inaugural Creator Classic. It felt like the start of something new, like the larger bodies of professional golf were finally legitimizing a multi-year evolution of golf entertainment. It was also the first ever article I wrote for Weekenders Weekly. Remember, some of these YouTube guys can play, whether they’re elite amateurs or former touring pros. This first tournament, and the next one held prior to the start of The Players Championship, seemed like smash hits, with a competitive field, thousands of fans watching in persons and tens of thousands watching live online. But, like every good thing, ego, money, and legal issues had to go and screw it all up.
The first Creator Classic was a one time event. The following year, three Classics were announced, but even after the second one was completed, nothing was said about format or if strokes will carry over. By the time the third Classic rolled around, something had changed. Gone were almost all of the top social creators, the event now involving journalists, TikTokers, Kyle Lowry (?), retaining Good Good, Josh Kelley, and some other big names. But, all the ones who really pushed the mold, Grant Horvat, BustaJack, Bob Does Sports, Bryan Bros., were all snatched up by none other than LIV Golf. This includes the originator of YouTube golf, Rick Shiels. Golf Sidekick the most under-appreciated and underrated golf personality of our time, remains a price too high for any tour to match. The LIV Duels series, while not broadcast live but recorded in familiar high quality YouTube style, involved the pros, having them play alongside the creators in a team format, and a lot more money. The PGA Tour was obviously pissed, banned the creators from any further Creator Classics, and even banned Wesley Bryan, a sometimes Tour Player, from returning to the PGA Tour. The whole thing fell apart.
This fourth event involved a relatively solid roster of creators and influencers. It had a $100,000 winner take all purse. Yet, it seems like the ship has sailed for the PGA Tour to take full control of the injunction between Creator golf and pro golf. It seems like even the Tour, even once they did the first Classic, didn’t realize the actual potential it could reach just months later. They tried to own the Creators even though the Creators, in some demographics and areas, have more pull than the Tour itself. This wild story of how the Tour handled this whole idea is definitely one that is cautionary rather than triumphant.
Malbon x Tour Championship
A light pack in collaboration with the Tour Championship, the PGA Tour’s finale that started today, but one with some really cool designs using that Tour Championship color scheme. Like the Malbon x UNDFTD collaboration, I hope that we get to see a real life version of that, genuinely amazing bucket hat they have Buckets wearing. The Tour Champ logo on the side of the hat doesn’t look half bad either.
You can find this at the tournament, if you’re lucky enough to be there, or the hat here, and the shirt here.

Pluto Golf x Captan Morgan
Pluto Golf, who continue to show off their unique mix of playful techy streetwear, have one upped themselves with the announcement of their Captain Morgan Sliced collection, which includes their first ever shoe collaboration. This dope set throws a beautiful blanket of black and purple on some of Pluto Golf’s best silhouettes, including their Drift Jacket and the Classic Polo. But, of course, the standout here is the “Sliced” Pluto 1, which uses a white upper to let the purple pop across the back and down underfoot. I honestly love the shoe design so much and this is up there with one of my favorite colorways so far. I like how the entire collection is very matchable and could even all be one at once. Talk about a flex.
I absolutely love how Pluto Golf has been creating and growing, they are really just starting and already have some insanely original and very niche inspired designs. The collection is live now and can be found right here.

Golf Creator Open Course Announcement
The Golf Creator Open has announced it will be playing it’s multi-day event at the Palm Aire Golf Course, specifically the Oaks Course. It’s a historic golfing complex fitting to make history with this upcoming first of its kind open style format tournament. I’m looking forward to seeing what exciting players will round out the rest of the field. Follow along on Instagram!
Malbon has just dropped the first teaser for their upcoming Fall/Winter clothing drop, at least the first of many drops of the season, going by years past. But, this one stands out starkly against a lot of their recent years. While they have done a fantastic job of going to different locales and climates and bringing them to golf, this time, they are bringing the history of golf into themselves. This collection is one rooted in Scottish fashion and golf history, drawing from the roots of golf heritage and what surrounds it, combining it with the styles and cuts of modern golf clothing. This is sure to be an exciting drop, especially as it was just announced earlier today that next Friday, August 29, every Malbon store will from Carmel to Miami will be holding a celebratory event. I can’t wait to see more of the collection, and luckily, we don’t have much longer to wait at all.
