Eastside Golf Spring

Eastside’s Spring ‘25 drop is a showcase of not just the brand’s evolution, but where they and all of golf is going next. With an emphasis on mixing different patterns, colors, and styles, it’s as if Eastside is using this opportunity to show their versatility and expanding reach, which has been showcased this past year in more specialized releases. With pieces for every one and every situation, it’s definitely a drop that will go down for it’s unique takes on the jacket and wind shirt, as well as the expansive polo and shorts collection. Check it out for yourself here, and read the WW write-up here.

Malbon Golf Spring

Malbon’s first drop for their Spring/Summer ‘25 completely transports the brand and in turn the consumer to a coastline of luxury, beauty, and opulence, and the clothing succeeds in the daunting task of reflecting that. Check out the WW breakdown here, and shop the men here and women here.

Puttwell Golf is Back!

One of my favorite brands of the modern golf clothing space, Puttwell has been noticeably quiet during the last year or so, a time where the industry has been more oversaturated than ever. Silence speaks volumes though, and when Puttwell started teasing their return, everyone was paying attention, hoping for a collection to match the absolute bangers of their past. Well, to our fortune, Puttwell came back with a vengeance, dropping a ten-piece pon our heads that is chock full of the inventive designs and creative originality I’ve come to love from Puttwell. Made in conjunction with Sig Zane, the Hawaiian apparel company, the T-shirts use large images and graphics to call back to the native fauna (and vibes) of the Hawaiian islands. The golf polos share this same motif, yet blast away the colors, using sleek blacks and whites and large silhouettes to convey the feelings of relaxing among the flora. The hat, ball markers, putter grips, and head covers maintain this color-washed motif, focusing on drawings and designs to convey the feelings that the t-shirts pop in your face with a color explosion. Both bring about the same feelings and vibes, but do so in very different ways, all while keeping that nonconformity and inventiveness we’ve come to know from Puttwell. While I hope they do not leave us for as long as they did last time, if that’s what it takes to deliver goods of this level, I’ll take it, although I have faith we will see Puttwell sooner rather than later, with the same level of high quality materials and designs in tow. The Sig Zane - Puttwell collection is in store in Hawaii and online here.

TGL Tripleheader

I’m lucky enough to have been to my fair share of TGL matches, but I still was a bit weary walking into SoFi Center for the triple header. With matches starting at 1 PM and finishing around 9 PM, it was going to easily be the longest sporting event I’ve ever attended. What I did not know walking in that would have eased my nerves in a second was the unbelievable level of hospitality, golf, and overall fun I was in for. TGL has tried so hard, through their marketing, branding, atmosphere, broadcast, and more to maintain a level of jovial competitiveness, and after taking a week off, they’ve come back even stronger and laser focused, executing almost flawlessly. The technology ran the smoothest I’ve seen it yet, with clean audio/visual transitions from the in-arena broadcast team to the on-air broadcast team, as well as cutting to replays in a way that felt conducive with the broadcast yet unique enough to grab attention. They upgraded a lot of the stadium aspects as well, with a complete overhaul of the front entrance, as well as upgrades to the light system, videoboards, and hospitality choices. Speaking of hospitality, every single person I interacted with was incredibly nice, looking out for me and making sure I had everything I needed, knew where I was going, etc., That tone extended out to every single fan, and it was hard to find someone who wasn’t smiling, except for when their team was losing.

About halfway through the afternoon, I popped outside to the plaza for some fresh air, and was greeted with an almost afternoon bbq vibe, with a DJ playing tracks, corn hole tournaments happening, multiple Dryvebox simulators, food and beverage, it was almost like a little party happening in between matches. This energy carried on from match 1 to match 3, and it was bolstered by the fact that each match was close and competitive, with immense drives, multiple hole outs, clutch putts, and the second overtime in TGL history. Big props to all the players and teams for coming out with such great play and performances, interacting with each other, the fans, and taking all the TGL concepts and running sprints with them. The TGL media team is so well oiled and thorough you would think they have been covering the league for a decade, and again, they couldn’t have been more generous and helpful. Derrick Stafford, the ref, and MC Roger Steel did their thing for seven hours straight, and they were on point the entire time. But, the largest shoutout goes to all the people working their ass off behind the scenes to ensure that the day ran as smooth as ever and turned what was potentially the most challenging day of TGL into the most triumphant. Influencer News Spotlight

This week we dip a bit into big box with Bob Does Sports, bringing us the beverage inspired and beachy Breezy Golf Spring Collection. A bevy of patterned polos make an appearance, with green and orange flower prints giving the collection a tinge of Augusta, while turquoises and teals invite the ocean in. The lone hoodie of the collection looks perfect for those windy oceanside golf days as well as that perfect after the beach sweater you need to refresh after a day in the sun. The shorts release in neutral white, black, and stone tones that are perfect pairings to the busy all over prints of the colorful polos. The wide bottomed 7.5 inch inseam gives the perfect amount of stretch and breathability for the hot spring days of Florida, while transferring to a nighttime at the beach bar just as seamlessly with its sleek design. The smooth, detail-less stitching, sleek logo less button, and held back approach to belt loops is a cool take on the more detail oriented approach we’ve been seeing recently, and once again, it’s the perfect approach to pair with the very busy shirts. The Breezy Spring ‘25 collection released today and can be found here, and a huge shoutout to Bob Does Sports for the hilarious marketing video they created.

In other news, Hood Hood Golf has just released a capsule of their own, and it perfectly captures the fun loving nature and unique flair of Flawda’s best golfers. Like the style of golf and content they create, which has an innate love for golf yet is wholly their own, the collection of clothes is a perfect reflection of that. Pushing more familiar spring tones to the wayside, they’re stepping out heavy in camo and Marran, a mauvish brown, which makes an appearance on the outerwear styles. The long polo carries the same logoing between each color while the design of the vest changes vividly depending on the colorway you select, with beige colorblocking moved from the lining of the Marran to center stage of the camo. While that camoufler print is used again in the polo and the hoodie (such a cool fit style on both, really perfect for pairing with other garments) a new gris gold colorway is used, almost combining some of the lighter tones of the camo with a more hued mauve. It’s an interesting color combo that helps the design and collection itself feel unique and wholly its own. The collection is rounded out by futuristic, textured sunnies that aim to be as polarizing in design as useful they are on those bright Flawda days where the sun just seems a little bit closer than normal. Hood Hood continues to be one of the most dynamic and entertaining golf creators, and their dedication to always wholly representing themself lives on in the clothing. Shop the collection here.

Course of the Week

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of testing my skills at the long, winding, windy, and sometimes downright scary looking Crooked Cat course at Orange County National. Although I was playing alongside a champion World Long Driver, his ability to drive greens and hit his 8 iron 260 did not rub off on me at all, and although I was finding fairways all day, I was usually finding the beginning of them. With a course that plays long already, playing into the wind, I had hybrid in on a lot of holes, which was almost a recipe for disaster. The course is as windy as it as long, with huge elevation changes popping up out of nowhere, a forest’s worth of trees hugging much of the left side, and greens that love to slope into the elongated bunkers. It’s one of those courses where every club in the bag has it’s moment, from punch stingers with a three wood out of the woods to chip 8 irons from 120, hitting it over a bunker and under a branch at the same time. The one advantage to all these hazards was the high quality of maintenance at OCN, which made the bunker shots and 50 foot putts at least a bit more manageable. But, for a course that holds LIV tournaments, the PGA Show demo day, and the Q-School Finals (that sign scared the shit out of me), it still was able to rise above my lofty expectations. With the largest driving range I’ve ever seen, a spacious clubhouses, lodges right on the practice green, and a second, allegedly harder 18 hole course waiting in the wings, OCN promises more than one day of golfing excellence.

Brand of the Week

You’re trash at golf. While that may be the last thing you want to hear, for most amateurs in the world, it’s the first thing they need to hear. So many golfers spend every weekend lamenting their shots and complaining about their swings when it actuality, they playing a brand of golf way above their pay grade already. For every 25 handicapper that complains whenever their approach shot isn’t within 15 feet is a 15 handicapper that smiles to himself when he hits it on the fringe from the same distance. One person knows they are trash, while the other refuses to come to terms with the fact, and it speaks volumes not just in their mentality, but in their scores.

Trash Chase, the Head Trash Golf Professional over at Trash Golf Co., who himself is very not trash at golf, somehow embraces the trash mentality more than anyone else, and his low scores reflect that. After getting about every one working and playing at his local course (where he is the non-trash head pro) to embrace the trash moniker (and use it as trash talk fuel) he decided to take it to the next level. Thus, the trash hat was born, as was the beautiful trash can clubs logo, the TAG slogan, and the absolutely hilarious marketing and content that lives online. The hats themselves don’t just serve as a reminder to maintain those low expectations, making it ever easier to surpass them, but they look damn good too. The smooth black and grey upside down rope hats are flanked by an equally sexy light pink, while getting pops of color in the red white and blue Presidential and the refined Two-Tone Tony. The can of clubs logo makes an appearance as well, looking sleek in the black.

Trash Golf Co. is firing on all fronts, bringing awesome comedic content, stylish hats, and a message that doesn’t just make golf more fun, but makes you better at it. I’m a big fan of the brand’s image and mission, and truly believe the message they are spreading is one that will help people improve at golf in droves. Make sure to check out their hats online here, and tap in here for an interview with Head Trash Golf Professional Chase.

Sneak of the Week

Over here at Weekenders Weekly, we still can’t wait for the release of the “Emerald Green” Jordan 14 G on Friday, a real heater of a colorway for the first of many Jordan 14 golf shoes. But, this sneak of the week is one we saw a little bit ago, yet have no idea when we will see again, the Reebok Question golf shoe sample. If you don’t know, the Reebok Question was Allen Iverson’s signature shoe, and was one of the most famous and stylish shoes of its time. With golf and basketball merging ever closer by the day, and more and more basketball retros getting tuned for the links, this sample had the golf world on fire when the photos released. Although the iconic shape is pushed down just a bit and reformed into something a bit more polished, the iconic colors and logos are intact, and the blue sole swap is elite. While there is absolutely no word on where and when these shoes will be releasing, if and when they do, it is sure to be a pivotal moment in golf sneaker history.

Stupid Golf Story

This week’s story is a flashback to last Friday at OCN, which was a great day of golf with a great group, shoutout to the twosome who joined up with us, who are also the unfortunate subjects of this week’s story. Although they came with great vibes and genuinely good play throughout the round, nothing will ever make me forget the first hole. One of the guys who joined up with us didn’t hit 2, or 3, but 4 trees just on the first hole. This is a Florida course with a wide open fairway, and while there were tons of trees off to the side of the hole, they really should not have been causing as much trouble as they did. My man was getting pinballed around, and while he didn’t let that tough opening put a dark cloud on his round, he still ended up hitting more trees than the average person even for the next 17. Maybe dangerous, definitely entertaining, and no matter what, most importantly, it was a great time.

I hope you enjoyed this Spring-y edition of Weekenders Weekly, I’m really excited to be able to bring you guys a deeper dive into these new and emerging golf brands each week with the new section!
