This week’s tip is focused on putting. This tip is taken from Tom Coyne’s book “Paper Tiger”, a phenomenal book that I think about almost every day. In it, Mr. Coyne decides to quit his job to try and become a pro golfer. In this quest, harboring professional coaches and high level training sessions, he talks about the best putting tip he has ever received. A coach told him to tightly flex his core while putting, holding it strong like in a plank. I immediately applied this to my putting stroke and personally have not putted without doing it since; the difference in stability and control was felt plainly. I recommend trying this simple tip that is as instantaneous to implement as it is effective.
Course of the Week
Biltmore Golf Course is my vote for best golf course in Miami for a few reasons. The history, the layout, the air of relaxation and recreation that surrounds the course and the century old hotel. Your playing partner might be an NBA player, or a top junior practicing for the famed Junior Orange Bowl. Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm might be on the on other side of the driving range, hitting chips. The setting is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lush trees, beautiful mansions, soothing canals and that gorgeous hotel. Biltmore is one of the most beloved and fun to play courses in South Florida, with a legendary history to match; yet, that doesn’t mean that it is free from a controversy that has gripped the whole region. A full write up is coming soon, and be on the lookout for a batch of content coming next week.

Stories from the Sticks
For this week, I want to include some thoughts from Kevin Kim. He is very focused on the mental side of golf and has lots of wisdom that he is really adamant about sharing, fortunately for the rest of us. A direct quote from the interview coming soon:
“When I was over the golf ball, I think I had so much doubt about where my ball was gonna go and so many thoughts… the biggest thing that clicked to me was being super committed to the shot I was trying to hit whether I hit it or not.”
I love that last part, being committed to the shot no matter the outcome. It takes a lot to really commit to your process and your swing itself rather than the golf shot and it’s infinite amount of possibilities. Staying focused on what you can control, like your routine, setup, and swing feel, helps you forget about worrying where the ball will go. Ensuring that these parts of the swing are done right will make the ball go where it needs to without you forcing it. Expect more elite mental tips when the interview drops next Tuesday!
Stupid Golf Story of the Week
This week, I want to give you a sneak peak into some of the special things you can see at the Biltmore. Over the years, I’ve had so many moments that stand out as hilarious or memorable. One recent one that comes straight to mind, is when my friend almost hit Carlos Boozer with a thinned a wedge, a rocket right towards him, only stopping a couple yards short. Somehow, Boozer had his back turned the whole time. But, the ball came to rest a few yards from Boozer’s ball, and when he turned around, he started walking towards to grab my friends ball instead of his! I thought there was no way I could tell him he was walking the wrong way, but he turned to us and gave a “what’s up fellas” which made the conversation immediately casual. To add to the fun, Shane Battier gave me a peace sign from the green a few minutes later, and I immediately sank a long putt for par. Neither of them saw, unfortunately, But, that’s just the vibe you catch at the B more.
Expect more moments like this, as well as course history and layout details, in the full write up coming next week.
I hope you enjoyed this edition of Weekenders Weekly! Another shout out to 1440 for the sponsorship, they’re a dope brand and deserve a look. Any time you click the link, it supports me directly as well! It means a lot.
We have our first interview releasing next week, Kevin is a great guy and has a lot of knowledge to share about his time at NYU and as a content creator. Alongside the full Biltmore write up, expect more NYC content, and be sure to check out those brands, they will all have you looking fresh on and off the course. Stay tuned to socials this weekend, hopefully I will be able to show you some courses that are special and close to my heart down in Florida. Stay safe down there everyone, but elsewhere if you can, go play golf.
